Visiting a skin clinic in Seoul: an English consultation checklist

By Concourse · Updated · 3 min read

If you are visiting Seoul and considering skin care, start by describing your concern and your travel schedule. A useful consultation should help you understand your options, who would treat you and whether the proposed care fits your stay. A popular treatment name alone does not answer those questions.

Describe the concern you want help with

Explain what you would like assessed in your own words. If you are seeking care for a skin problem, say that clearly rather than selecting an aesthetic package to get an appointment. If your interest is cosmetic, describe your goal without assuming a particular procedure is the right choice.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using a cosmetic consultation to discuss goals, options, risks and the clinician’s relevant experience. Ask the treating clinician to explain their recommendation and alternatives in terms you understand.

Check English support and the clinician’s role

Ask whether you will speak directly with the clinician in English or communicate through an interpreter or coordinator. Confirm that support covers the consultation and aftercare questions, not just appointment scheduling.

A skin clinic listing does not, by itself, tell you the qualifications of the person you will see. Ask for the clinician’s name, qualifications and role in your appointment. If you specifically want a dermatologist, confirm that when requesting the booking.

  • Who will assess me and who would perform the treatment?
  • Can I discuss my questions in English during the consultation?
  • Can I receive the proposed plan and aftercare instructions in English?
  • Is there a consultation fee if I decide not to proceed?

Put your travel plans in the consultation

Share your departure date and any plans that could affect availability, such as a wedding, outdoor activities or onward travel. Ask about expected downtime and any follow-up visits before choosing a date. Let the clinician explain which parts of your itinerary matter for the options under discussion.

For repeat visitors, give your next likely travel window as well. Ask whether the proposed plan is a single appointment or a series and which visits would need to happen in Korea. Avoid buying a package based on dates that have not been agreed.

Get a clear description with the price

Ask the clinic to name the procedure, treatment area and number of sessions in its quote. Where relevant, request the product or device details and how the amount is calculated. Confirm the total in Korean won, whether tax is included and whether consultation or aftercare charges are separate.

Keep the written plan in your conversation so you can clarify changes before treatment. A request through Concourse starts that conversation; the clinic still needs to confirm the appointment and assess suitability.

Common questions

Can I ask for a consultation without choosing a treatment?
Yes. Describe your concern, preferred consultation language and travel dates. You can discuss options with the clinician before deciding whether to proceed.
Does every Seoul skin clinic have English-speaking doctors?
Do not assume this from a translated listing. Confirm who provides English support and whether it will be available during your actual appointment.
